Sometimes I am surrounded by the men I love in my life and I feel so optimistic about misogyny – we’re getting there, the war on women is slowing, the good out-number the bad, men are starting to understand themselves, men love women and they don’t want to hurt them. And then I read this post by Kate Harding and I am utterly shocked. What does a woman (Melissa McEwan) get for posting on the Internet against making jokes out of rape? Prepare yourself because I can hardly breath with all the hatred she received. I still love the men I love but faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark, you men have a problem. All of you, even the good ones, because you’re in this with all the baaad ones. I know you suffer too because of all the insane misogynists you share your gender with and how they make life hard for you if you dare to express respectful views on women or homosexuals, but do you see what this woman got for posting, do you see it? We feminists can’t fix this, you men, you need to work on men, you have to stop this.
Try not to get splattered in misogyny

Uhhhh…
I remember downloading an Opie & Anthony podcast thing late last year while I was following that ridiculous Kevin Smith vs. Joel Siegel story (which was far more deserving of “Whoever wins… We lose” than Alien vs Predator). They were such juvenile morons I assumed it was a college radio show hosted by two twentysomethings. Then I look a little further into what’s happened and it turns out (1) it’s syndicated and (2) they’re both well into their 40s.
I actually collected all the abusive comments a YouTube video about a rock camp for girls got within its first 12 hours online. It wasn’t as bad as what was said to Melissa, but… Ugh.
Thanks for providing some background on these guys, Richie. You’re about my only known male reader and you represent your gender very well.
