When we are fighting I think about this research I once saw that found couples with children under the age of five are pretty much the unhappiest people on the planet. It is reassuring to have such a low benchmark to live up to.

And when we are not fighting, especially when we are on holidays, I like him so very much that I find his feet sexy. Which is to like someone a lot, because right now I also love these feet and any other feet can look quite shabby in comparison. Unless you are in luuuurve, people.
(Though this time the jolt to a relationship and its focus that comes with a baby has not been a shock to either of us).
I need a link to that research, lady! It will justify my last post and the theme song to my life with 2 under 5…which is something like…Please Tell Me This Gets Better Because No One’s Feet Look Sexy These Days.
It’s ok to have a foot fetish. You don’t need to explain yourself.
:p
On a more sagely note, that research is, in the way you suggest, reassuring. These are not easy times, as much as they’re full of joy and light.
I find this true for us too, it was a real struggle when our big kid was a toddler…but with this guy it hasn’t been bad at all. Well, except for the feet…my husband’s feet are far too hobbit-ish to be sexy. Cute, sure….sexy nope.
I think the unhappiness is probably due to exhaustion and
people not accepting that their lives will never be the same as they were pre children. After the five year mark reality and acceptance sets in!
