This made me laugh so hard, but also basically cry, because look at that little boy’s face! I hope he doesn’t remember this. I remember my heart being broken at age 3 and it is so very real — one out of fifty times, that is, I forget the 49 random heartbreaks 3 year olds are so prone to — I’d hate for his ‘my heart was broken’ memory to be over his father telling him he’s not a single lady. XD
I know, it is so awwwwwwwwwwww cuteness but so awwwwwwwww sadness too.
Ohhhh this is so sad! I don’t have any kids so I can’t speak from any place of expertise, but it seems to me that oftentimes rational adults who work hard to reject gender norms in their normal, adult lives, once they have children, some kind of switch goes off and suddenly gender roles become very important, and they start explaining to baby boys that they’re not single ladies.
I talked it over with a friend of mine who recently had a child, and she said it’s just a matter of giving them the skills to fit in, which I can understand. But it still makes me squirmy!
