Reading Twitter during last night’s delivery of the Australian federal budget I couldn’t help but notice how many of us crush on political journalists. For my money you can’t go past the über delicious George Megalogenis but I saw much sighing over Chris Ulhmann this time and there is always plenty of flutterings for Kerry O’Brien and Annabel Crabb. Intelligent and opinionated is always an attractive combination and there is something quite divine about a penetrating discussion (have I gone too far?) on politics and economics, is there not?
So, who is your favourite dish?
George Megalogenis
Paul Kelly
Jennifer Hewett
Or (good lord) do you harbour a darker fantasy?
Andrew Bolt
Someone else entirely? If you’re a reader from somewhere other than Australia and you’re blinking a lot in confusion with all these who-the-hell people you can feel free to throw in your Rachel Maddows and what have you.

I do adore Fran Kelly and Michelle Grattan. Michelle Grattan can concentrate for Australia, she’s a champion, gold-medal winning, elite concentrator. And that’s even before she opens her mouth or picks up a pen.
But as we are coming into election season, my heart belongs to Anthony Green and his statistics.
Annabel Crabb. She makes me laugh.
…in a good way I hasten to add.
Damn, I thought about including Antony Green and looks like I should have..
I was going to say Antony Green!
I wish that Anderson Cooper would cover the next Australian election.
Well, he’s not a political journalist per se. But I have A Thing for Ian Henderson http://www.abc.net.au/reslib/200910/r454725_2220802.jpg
Peter van O… rowr.
But I’m too old, as reminded by my daughter while letching about Dan Sultan tonight. As in “Mum, ewwwwwww.” You can look forward to that. Kezza’s more my age group, but I’d rather pick their brains than, you know… err, I’d better stop now.
Tony Jones…not strictly political, and lost it a bit after he went to qanda. But I would stay up til midnight to watch him. Also, does Jon Stewart count?
Also, “concentrate for Australia”…best thing I’ve read on the interwebs all day.
Ooh yes, Tony Jones.
And I would consider switching teams for Virginia Trioli.
Michelle Grattan, for sure. Though if you broadened the field to include newsreader types, my crush on Lee Lin Chin knows no bounds.
Lee Lin Chin has exactly the same hair cut as my MIL, so no crush there. Virginia Trioli is very nice though, I agree.
Lee Lin Chin once shoved me out of her way when getting into a lift that I was exiting (in her apartment building). It dampened my enthusiasm for her somewhat.
I have been nodding my head with a smile……my friend calls these people the thinking woman’s crumpet….here is my list of people that catch my attention
Kerry O’Brien
Tony Jones
Chris Ulhmann (love his tenacity)
George Megalogenis (pay a bit more attention to insiders when he is on the panel)
girl crush on Fran Kelly – tune in every morning
and you can always count on Michelle Grattan for an unbiased view. I heard a quote that went something like the only time Michelle Grattan has shown any signs of “bias” was a raised eyebrow in question time….
What about Jayne Margetts. Not only a died in the wool English rose, but a smoking hot journo too.
I want to say “Don’t go there”. Obviously it is not my place to tell anyone what they should or shouldn’t do, but since my mums dalliance, many years ago, with one of the tribe above, progressively more and more current affairs shows have been off limits. esp since my mum has long been partial to inventing extremely blue Rodney R type “you know what i hate” type jokes and i now know more than i could ever wish about that individual, please, think of the kiddies.

Oh my, political gossip of the sexy kind. Awesome!
