And you thought putting shit on your cat and taking photos of it was cool..
The blogger at Mila’s Daydreams is a copywriter and concept designer in advertising, and a blissed out mother on maternity leave. She takes creative photos of her baby during nap times. I’m pretty impressed, I mean I always assumed other parents were just like me and spent nap time running from the house shouting “I’m free, I’m free”, too.
(Thanks Sarah S. for the link).

I too used to you nap time to fit as much in as possible and then after a few years I decided to just join the kids – something I wish I had done so much earlier as a well rested Mum makes for a happier family. Live & learn.
My first thought when I looked at her photos was “how the hell does she have the energy to think of anything so cool?”, followed quickly by “how the hell does she do that without waking the baby?”, but the photographic record on my laptop indicates that every now and then I opportunistically took photos of my sleeping baby and took the piss. I wish it had occurred to me to take the piss out of my baby daily.
I love this… what do you think baby will think in a few years (or grown up) that her mother was doing this? I would think it was awesome.
Nap story: I have been at a friend’s house before for the day when we were 24 and her kiddo was 2. I remember she tried to put him in his own room for a nap, and he wasn’t keen at all. She came back out (to the only aircon-ed room in the house – it was 35+ outside) saying apologetically ‘He won’t sleep, he keeps crying about playing with you, so we all have to have a nap… Sorry!’. I didn’t mind at all, I was like YES! NAP! (I have always been pathetically sleepy in the afternoons and have only just learned it’s because of gluten, Substance of the Devil). So we all lay down in the aircon (it was above 35 outside – no wonder he wasn’t keen on sleep) and had a sleep. It was brilliant.
We’ve been friends since we were 12, though, so maybe it’s easier to tell an old friend that we all have to lie down because the kid needs a sleep???
LOL. That is a really sweet story Hendo.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I have to share the link with my mum, who will love the idea so much.
I would love to do this! My baby is a great sleeper too, but there’s a few other little problems. Like the dogs might step on her. And there’s a fair bit of cat hair on the carpet. and it would take me ages to clear a free space….sigh.
I certainly never had time to fashion cunning baby turbans out of a muslin
