Really interesting article here from Mona Eltahawy which yielded, among other things, this fabulous quote:
To be a Muslim and a feminist is to stand in the crossfire and yell “Shut the f**k up!” to everyone around you because you know that anything you say can and will be used against you by everyone.
And also this video interview with Eltahawy.

What is wrong with this situation? Why do you persist? Why not find a moderate road in ISLAM, they exist do they not?
To whom are you addressing these rather abrasive questions? To Eltahawy? Because she answers all those questions and more in the video interview linked to in the post above.
Oh you finally found Mona. She is one of my favourite Muslim feminist writers (and there is quite a number of them, despite the popular belief).
As a Muslim, a feminist, a daughter of an immigrant and a wife to an immigrant, an European, as a woman, a mother and as a vocal no-bullshit taker I have laughed loudly at the image Mona portrayed
This is EXACTLY how I feel most of the time.
Thanks for posting it!
I love Mona. Unlike some other progressive/liberal Muslims, she has never made me feel like I’m inferior because of my religious practice. And she often says what I’m thinking, and what others are afraid to say.
