A boy from work introduced me to this CD, “I’m Not Singing” by Rhys Muldoon. Yes, a boy, he’s in his early twenties and he doesn’t even have kids and he owns this album, that’s how good it is…
Available for download/purchase here or from iTunes. It’s your typical, very pleasant alt rock/pop kinda sound with these really fantastic lyrics. All my love to the ridiculously funny Bob the Bear and the feminist Doin’ Stuff (neither of which, unfortunately, are clips on YouTube for you to hear).
Read the interview with Rhys Muldoon here or follow him on Twitter at @rhysam.
Your new children’s album, featuring the talents of Tex Perkins and Spiderbait drummer Kram, has been described as ”edgy”. Is this code for singing about bodily functions?
No. OK, maybe a bit. ”Edgy” makes me think ”wanky”. I promise it’s not that. It is, I hope, a good album that happens to be for kids too. Edgy, I know.
I can forgive Rhys Muldoon for that Kevin Rudd thing now.

Thank you – we’ve just listened to that several times (the little in fits of laughter) and I’ve been directed to post it on my facebook so the cousins can watch it.
Just watched the video on YouTube. It’s a great tune & my toddler liked it. The only criticism I have is that the kids in the video are all white…
Yeah, I noticed that, too. Think there might be one child of colour in there but they weren’t highlighted in the clip. It is a shame.
This CD has been on permanent replay at our place and car for months now. Nothing warms my heart more than watching my Dad sing the “who has done the poo” chorus loudly and enthusiastically to my 14 month old!
We bought about 6 of the tracks on this, my kids don’t like the thrashy ones. I love On The Hunt, it reminds me of TISM! Thanks for this, keep the recommendations coming please.
Duly ordered. Do you know the Colours are Brighter CD? Tracks by Franz Ferdinand, Belle & Sebastian and the like – music for kids that isn’t just “kids music”. Really lovely, and again, a favourite of a childfree friend of mine.
