When the Sydney Morning Herald (online version) plugged its (non) story on the pregnancy pact that wasn’t among teenage girls at a particular high school in the U.S. – the apparent urban legend being created by a principal about teenage girls who have a pact “to get themselves pregnant” (all that sperm just flying around out there with no owner?).. well.. this is the stock picture they used.
A model pregnant and in her underwear. Interesting choice of photo considering the story refers to pregnant teenage girls, none of whom are aged over 16. Titilation much?
But don’t you KNOW! The fact that they’re pregnant means they had sex! And any tenuous link to sex means you can use a sexxxxy pic!
(I’m sure it’s in the photo editors’ manual somewhere…)

She’s not just any model pregnant and in her underwear, though – Pregnancy pics for this purpose are always otherwise-thin people with noooo stretch marks. Now that’s what I’d like to see illustrating one of these articles. You could even put her damn FACE in the picture.
Oh that’s nothing. Yesterday they linked to a story about how the slowing economy was spelling trying times for retirees – and I swear to Dumbledore they actually used a photograph of a traumatised, crying Bosnian old woman refugee or something.
I think a picture of a sad, young GIRL w/ swollen ankles and yucky maternity clothes gazing longingly at her classmates getting ready for prom would have been more appropriate and honest. These kinds of images are what makes them thing pregnancy is romantic.
