Is calling yourself a ‘mommy/mummyblogger‘ infantalising?
Are you going to be honest (smug even) with your kids about your own hedonistic youth or Just Say No? (Don’t mean to imply that Jay’s post is smug, rather, that one of the options for a parent telling their kids about their youth is ‘seriously contrite’ [ie. don’t do what I did], and another option is ‘smug’ [ie. I had such a great time, such a great, great time, but don’t do what I did]. But am generally kidding).
Do boys make cute fairies or what?
Whatever happened to the blog One Good Thing?
How much are you going to miss this early parenthood thing when it is over?
Did the baby just wee in our bed?
Aww, that boy in the fairy costume is so adorable! We have a boy in the centre who brought a purple fairy wand in for show and tell the other day. He loved it so much that he kept waving it around when he was meant to be showing people 😛 ^y^
Um, smug? Didn’t mean to come across as smug…
Oh Jay, misunderstanding. I’m so sorry. You are NEVER smug. Post amended to hopefully explain myself. Moral of the story: I shouldn’t try to be flippant, I can’t carry it off that late at night.
Phew. I’d be worried if you thought I was smug.
Oh, and I miss Flea, too.

Iasshole has a good post which touches on this subject. I’m with her – be a bit withholding of your past history when they’re too young to process the nuance.
As an Australian, “Mommy” irritates the hell out of me. I really hope that spelling never catches on here (I see I’ve already lost the battle with realise/realize, etc.) I don’t see “Mommyblogger” as much infantilising (see what I did there) as an attempt to put personalpolitical bloggers who post on children in a box, and there’s a lot of interest in “mommybloggers” from the marketing industry, b/c presumably mother = consumer. Ick.
If you email Flea she will give you a link to her new website.
Yes, but what is her email address?
Hi blue milk,
I’ve enjoyed reading your blog for a couple of years.
I”m also a fan of flea’s. Her email address is 1goodthing at gmail dot com. I hope this helps.
Cheers from USA,
Jen
Thanks Jen!
