Someone nominated blue milk for The Top 50 Mom Blogs 2010 over at babble.. and it wasn’t even me. Thank you most sincerely to whomever that was – you wrote something lovely in your nomination, too, and it is rather nice to see feminist motherhood make it on to a list at babble.
Of course I blog for the glory here so you must all vote for this blog. You must. Wherever possible vote dishonestly and frequently is my general guide.
(It will probably help if you search for me under the ‘alphabetic tab’ rather than the ‘popularity tab’ on that list at babble as I don’t have many – cough, cough – votes right now). Update: Well la di dah – it is now quicker to search for me under the ‘popularity tab’ than the ‘alphabetical tab’. Thank you, kind readers.
Further update: Sadly for you, now that I have cracked the top twenty, now top ten and now back to top twenty, it has awakened some sort of competitiveness in me and for a short time (until modesty prevails) I am making this a sticky post.

Awww thank you, will drop over and reply properly there.
Voted once…may we vote again?
Alas, not from the same IP address you can’t. Boo for honesty in competitions.

Done. And I was a bit miffed that I, Asshole wasn’t in it, so I nominated her as well, though it’s probably a bit late in the day.
It is really very narrow innit? Glad you nominated her blog, and so many other big successful mother blogs that didn’t get nominated either.

Thank God for babble, otherwise I’d never have found Blue Milk. You’ve got my vote. Haven’t felt so relieved to find another woman’s take on motherhood since reading Jane Lazarre’s The Mother Knot while struggling to come to terms with mixed emotions during my second pregnancy.
What a fabulous comment, thank you nikolaellis. And you have reminded me of Jane Lazarre who I need to post on soon.
Delighted to have found you on Babble. I am there too but so far down the list it is not funny…. Maybe little bit funny but not in the top 20!
Woogsworld xo
Lovely to meet you Mrs Woog.
[…] Thanks to a comment from Nikola Ellis I was reminded of Jane Lazarre (author of well-known feminist motherhood memoirs Beyond the Whiteness of Whiteness: Memoir of a White Mother of Black Sons [1999] and The Mother Knot [1976]), and I found this interview with Lazarre over at The Mothers Movement Online. Top 10 woohoo!
Voted! Good luck 🙂
I just had a look at some of the other blogs in the top ten. Meh. Not to get bitchy about this thing but your blog gets my vote by a country mile.
So well deserved!!!
