Bill: Hitting is wrong, Cormac. You can’t hit. It hurts people when you hit. Especially no hitting with things.. like that toy rake. That hurts. You see how it hurt when Lauca hit you back with the rake? Did you like that? Why would anyone else want to be hit, do you want to be hit?
Cormac: I love hitting.
Makes me think of the “Blah blah blah Ginger blah blah blah” Gary Larson cartoon. 🙂
This is very funny. Also made me think of Charlie Brown and how when adults talk all you hear is “wah wah wah wah wah”
My daughter also loves hitting. Especially if it involves a big stick. And she loves saying “Kill! Kill! Kill!” at the same time. Makes going out in public quite a trial at the moment.
(snicker, snort) I have bad news for you. It gets even worse when they’re three.
Oh good gods, my nearly-three-year-old does that all the time. Not so much with the words; but he’ll hit his brother, and we’ll have this conversation, and he goes right back to hitting his brother. Who is learning how to hit back – a mixed blessing. ;-;
I am despairing quite a bit, here, but glad to know that it’s not just mine who are into the hitting thing.
Ah, yes, 2-year-old logic. Hair-tearing indeed.
This is precisely the sort of response I get from my three-year-old. And yes, when I’ve seen him hit (the wall, his brother, etc.), he does it with eyes full of gleeful abandon. It’s true love. *le sigh*
