The Australian Motherhood Initiative for Research and Community Involvement (AMIRCI) will be hosting the 7th Australian International Conference on Motherhood. The conference is to be called “Motherhood, Feminisms and the Future” and will be held at July 17-20, 2014 in Melbourne, Australia. Having been a presenter at previous conferences, and loved it, I am definitely considering submitting again to this one. I strongly encourage you, dear reader, to submit an abstract and/or consider just attending as a conference participant. The content of these conferences have always been incredibly interesting and diverse.
Specific details to be announced early 2014 but in the meantime…
This conference will explore, examine, critique, theorise and respond to key issues related to motherhood through matricentric feminist lenses. The central focus of matricentic feminist scholars is mother/motherhood/mothering. Such a focus has specifically grown in response to perceptions that second wave feminism overlooked maternal issues, concerns and challenges. Indeed many maternal issues remain invisible despite ongoing difficulties experienced by mothers in various areas of their lives. We welcome submissions from scholars, students, activists, community workers, bloggers, mothers, and others who research in this area. We are open to a variety of submissions including academic papers from all disciplines, and creative submissions such as poetry, literature, visual and performance art. There will also be general papers on mothering/ motherhood/ mothers.
If you are interested in being considered as a presenter for either a paper and/or workshop, please send a 250 word abstract and a 50-word bio by December 20, 2013 to: firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com
** TO SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT FOR THIS CONFERENCE, ONE MUST BE A 2014 MEMBER OF AMIRCI
