When I think of super stay-at-home-motherness I fantasize about someone like this. Elsita is an artist, obviously, so when she decided to make her daughter a doll’s house she constructed this miniature Frida Kahlo studio. Incredible. More photos here. (Thanks to the F-Word Blog for letting me know about this fabulousness and also thank you to them for recently writing such lovely things about blue milk).
I just made something Frida Kahlo-y too as it happens. (No, I am not going to include a photo of it here alongside the muy bonita doll’s house). Our daughter turns three shortly and I made the invitations to her birthday party using an image of a Frida Kahlo painting. Her party has a fiesta theme in honour of the meal she has chosen for the occasion – burritos. (Yay for vegetarian food the in-laws will eat).
i love this so much! I love little houses, little spaces. I once read an interview with Mirka mora where she said that the mind loves little spaces, and i think its true. I found someones dolls house in a junk shop last week and am revamping it… I want to buy some of that polymer clay to play with. My little girl and i are discussing it.. she says that its her house. I say its mine…
last week i spent my last five dollars on a tiny lamp with batteries… we turn it on a night in the dark hallway.
I have called in on this location on many an instance now but this post is the 1st one that I have ever commented on.
Congratulations on such a first-rate critique and site. I have found it to be very helpful and educational – I only wish that there were more blogs online like this one.
I never disappear from this blog without learning anything, from time to time I may feel a tiny bit saddened that I may not agree with a blog article or comeback that has been made. But hey! that is existence and if every one decided to agree on the same thing what a boring old world we would exist in.
Please maintain your admirable work.
Having said all of this, and if I’m kindly allowed to continue with my entries I will come again to post on your blog site soon
Cheers, have a great day and thank you.
Frida is awesome. My two year old grandaughter has grown up with my Frida pictures on the bedroom wall..she is part of our family. We sit and look through some her paintings in her autobiography at her request. when she paints it is very messsy …she messes with paint and then decides what it is. Such a liberating way to approach art and creativitiy!
Viva la Frida!!
